Fold&Roll Wiki — November 2026 (version 1.4)

Pick a role

Every device picks one of three roles. Player devices carry character sheets. The DM device is the campaign hub: campaigns, NPCs, shops, battle, and hosting live there. A third device can run as the Table Display — a clean shared screen for the map and turn order, on a TV or a spare tablet.

Your first character

A fresh install starts empty on purpose: the home screen's empty states each carry their own creation button, so the first tap is always "make the thing." Build a character with the step-by-step builder, or open the compendiums — 334 monsters, hundreds of spells, equipment, and magic items are built in under the SRD.

New to D&D entirely?

The How to Play D&D guide is built into the app and completely free: 27 topics from "what is a d20" to casting your first spell, written for actual first-timers, with completion badges as you finish sections. Learn the game, roll up your first character, and sit down at your first table with the same app.

Joining a table

At a physical table, phones connect to the DM's device in the room — no accounts, no codes to read out. Online, a DM hosting a Telepathic Bond table shares an invite link; players join free, always. Players only ever pay if they want Fold&Roll+ for themselves.

Coming back after a break?

If the rust is the barrier, the built-in guide is the fastest way back: skim the topics you half-remember, roll a fresh character in the builder, and you're ready to sit down. Your old characters are still on your device — Fold&Roll has no servers, so nothing was ever going to be deleted.
